报告题目：Freeform Optics: Encounters in the Past and Door into our Future

Freeform surfaces are emerging as an expansive new domain for optical systems. Following an historical and theoretical perspective on freeform optics, we will point to a wide variety of applications pursued as part of the new NSF I/UCRC Center for Freeform Optics (CeFO) and highlight some recent research in freeform optical systems, from design to metrology and assembly.

Jannick P. Rolland

Brian J. Thompson Professor of Optical Engineering, University of Rochester, USA

Jannick Rolland is the Brian J. Thompson Professor of Optical Engineering at the Institute of Optics at the University of Rochester where she serves as Director of the newly formed NSF I/UCRC Center for Freeform Optics (CeFO). She is also Director of the R.E. Hopkins Center for Optical Design and Engineering focused on undergraduate education and leads the ODALab (www.odalab-spectrum.org). Professor Rolland holds appointments in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and in the Center for Visual Science. She earned an Optical Engineering Diploma from the Institut D'Optique Théorique et Appliquée, France, and an MS and PhD in Optical Science from the College of Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona. Professor Rolland is a Fellow of OSA, SPIE, and NYSTAR, and a senior member of IEEE. Professor Rolland served as Director at Large on the OSA Board of Directors 2010-2013. She is the recipient of the 2014 OSA David Richardson Medal.
